6th Grade Health
Whiteside 6th grade health consists of two weeks of in class instruction during physical education class. One week will be taught each semester. Mrs. Penrod will be teaching all 6th grade health. In school health class, students will focus on stress, organization and study skills for success, conflict resolution, character education and bullying. Fitness and nutrition will be taught in physical education. The student is responsible when absent for checking with his/her health group to catch up notes and make up missing assignments.
Students will receive additional health instruction with 9 days of DARE education through the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department and 9 days of Life Skills through Chestnut Health Systems in Social Studies. Topics that will be covered are Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco resistance, social skills, healthy relationships, and conflict resolution.
